    If your purchase requires shipping. the cost will be automatically calulated at checkout for you. if you are local to Bundaberg or surrounds and would like to collect your items personally, (I would recomend this, not only to eliminate the risk of breakage, but to save on shipping cost) please select the option at checkout and get in contact with me via email at mclayceramics@gmail.com and I will get back to you within business hours to organise pick up.

  • Product care

    All of our wares are extremely durable; they are fired twice to their maximum strength. Our ceramic items are both dishwasher and microwave safe. I would, however, recomend a warm gentle hand wash if in frequent use, especially if your purchase is from one of our handpainted collections. This will ensure the vibrant colours of the underglaze are preserved. If you purchase from our gold lustre range its very important you dont put them in the microwave and only hand wash.

    McLay Ceramics does not accept returns - all sales are final. If your item arrives damaged or broken please email explaining the situation with pictures and arrangments will then be made to replace the item.

    All handmade products will have slight variations in size, shape and colour. This is the beauty of buying handmade products.

Meet the maker

Erin McLay, the founder of McLay Ceramics in 2020. "Through pottery I have found myself on a journey of self discovery and finding my place in the world of creative art. What started as a tentative idea for a new hobby has now led to a full time business where I can share my passion for the beauty and theraputic properties of ceramics."

Custom orders

If you've placed a custom order, there is a standard 3-5 week turnaround time.

Once your order is received, the basic structure of the piece will be moulded by hand (with love) by me in my home studio. It will then dry for 48 hours before I can carve and shape it. It is then smoothed over with a wet sponge and set aside to dry completely; this usually takes about a week. When bone dry, the pieces are loaded into the kiln for their first firing to around 1060 degrees Celsius. This takes 24 hours. When completely cool, it's time for glazing and then back into the kiln. This firing is to a higher temperature, around 1222 degrees Celsius. After another 24 hours, the items are then ready to be unloaded and packaged, ready for shipping or pick up! Overall, it's such a rewarding process and I love making customised items for you.
